ISCC stands for justice
We, the members of the Islamic Society of Chester County, have been praying, condoling, hurting, reflecting and searching for answers as we are deeply saddened and disturbed by the recent, senseless murders of Black individuals around the country. We stand in solidarity with people of color, condemning the brutality that Black communities across the country still face in the year 2020! We send our deepest condolences to families and communities of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and the countless individuals who have been victims of this hate.
We would like to send a loud and clear message that the Islamic Society of Chester County will not stand for this injustice and that we will do all that we can in our capacity to work towards the eradication of inequality and to the establishment of justice in our society.
To this end, we call on all our community members to
- Stand united against all forms of racism and hatred, both publicly and privately, individually and collectively against any racial injustice that you may see in our community and in our nation. Challenge and question any bias or false assumptions of your peers.
- Speak out family and friends on ways that we can support and actively help the African American brethren in our communities and to actively become part of the solution.
- Educate for the black communities that surround our institution. Your voice matters and it’s more important now, more than ever, to utilize it.
- Show up for the representation that our communities deserve to fight against racism and injustice. At the end of this email are links to campaigns, funds, and resources to support this cause.
- Vote for the representation that our communities deserve to fight against racism and injustice. At the end of this email are links to campaigns, funds, and resources to support this cause.
Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.. (Quran 16:90)
“All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.” Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)
